In an effort to strengthen and align the duties and responsibilities of AIBC registrants who serve on Advisory Design Panels, council approved a motion to introduce Council Rules 7: Advisory Design Panels.
The rules cover length of appointments, professional conduct expectations and conflict of interest considerations as well as an extension of eligibility from solely Architects AIBC to Retired Architects AIBC, when appropriate. Members and all other AIBC registrants are also explicitly reminded of the prohibition to lobby or influence design panels in any way.
Read the proposed rules in full.
As per Council Policy 3.10, members and associates are given at least 30 days’ notice regarding any rules that council is considering for future council approval.
During the notification period, which runs March 2 to Friday, March 31, architects and other AIBC registrants are invited to provide feedback on the proposed amendments. Please submit your feedback via the online feedback form by midnight on Friday, March 31.
All feedback is provided to council prior to its consideration. Council is expected to vote on these rules at its May 2 meeting.
