AIBC Terms of Engagement 101: Types of Standard Contracts
In part one of Terms of Engagement 101, we provided a summary of the basic requirements related to an architect’s terms of engagement, including why written contracts need to be in place with a client before ‘architecture’ begins. In this follow-up Regulatory Review article, we discuss the range of standard form agreements available, and provide information and advice on how to select the most suitable contract for your project. AIBC Blueprint for Business Course: Only Six Spots Left!
One of our most popular courses is back, featuring refreshed content and new instructors! If you are thinking about starting your own practice or interested in learning about what it’s like to work in or be a principal of a mid to large-sized firm, then our Blueprint for Business course is for you. This full day course, held on November 29, will walk you through all the steps – from the professional obligations of licensing a firm to the basics of setting up a practice. Read more.
AIBC Reminder: Advanced Code Knowledge Course
The Advanced Code Knowledge Course is being offered jointly by the AIBC and Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia. This 8-week course, starting on February 21, is intended for architects, engineers and those with knowledge of Canadian building codes and experience in the building construction industry seeking to increase their depth of knowledge and expertise in these areas. AIBC New: CES Countdown – 8 Months Until the June 2018 Deadline
Additional resources for architects registered in multiple Canadian jurisdictions have been added to the AIBC website, including information on how to submit a Declaration of Out-of-Province CES Compliance. The next AIBC Mandatory CES reporting period deadline is June 30, 2018. CES Participants have eight months remaining to earn and report a total of 36 Learning Units. Read more.

Mark your calendars for the 2017 Holiday Open House! Join friends and colleagues at this celebratory get-together and enjoy local flavours and plenty of holiday cheer.
