AIBC The Use of Combustible Materials in the Building Envelope
This Regulatory Review article has been prepared by the AIBC Building Envelope Committee to alert registrants to some of the issues coming out of the tragic Grenfell Tower Fire, and highlight some of the duties and responsibilities of architects in the design of cladding systems, both for new buildings and for the rehabilitation of existing buildings. AIBC 2018 Annual Renewal of Registration
The AIBC Council has approved a nominal one per cent increase in annual renewal fees. The fee structure for AIBC registrants incurs a 25 per cent increase if not paid in full on or before the deadline. In accordance with the Architects Act, the deadline for annual renewal of registration is February 1, 2018. Read more.
AIBC 2018 Annual Renewal – Firm Information and PLI Update
With the year drawing to a close, the 2018 Annual Renewal Cycle is in full swing. A bylaw requirement, firms are responsible for submitting their firm's information. Firm Administrators may have updated their firm information, but not clicked the "confirm" button. Review instructions and screen shots to ensure your Firm Information Update was completed correctly. AIBC AIBC Volunteer Opportunity – Nominations Review Committee
Further to the September 15, 2017 President’s Message and taking into consideration feedback shared by members, AIBC Council has recently approved the reactivation of a Nominations Review Committee. The Institute is seeking a Member-at-large to serve on the newly re-formed Nominations Review Committee. Read more.
AIBC The 2017 Recognition Ceremony – A Recap
The 2017 Recognition Ceremony took place on Thursday, November 23 at VanDusen Gardens. It was a celebratory night, with more award recipients than any other previous year. Awards were presented in two categories; Professional Service and Volunteer Service. The accomplishments of all AIBC volunteers were also celebrated. Six former council members received Certificates of Recognition for their outstanding service on council. View photos and read more.
