Over the past several months, there have been many changes at the AIBC in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. As always – the safety and well being of our registrants, volunteers and staff are top priority, and we appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding as we adapt to this new environment.
We are committed to keeping registrants and the public informed, and there are several new updates we would like to share:
New Date Announced for 101st Annual Meeting, Taking Place Online
The 101st Annual Meeting has been rescheduled to take place on Thursday, August 20, 2020, beginning at 9 a.m. PDT. The meeting will be held remotely using a virtual platform – additional information will be shared with registrants when available.
AIBC Offices Remain Closed to Visitors
The AIBC Office remains closed to visitors until further notice. Please note that the Institute is still operating remotely – all primary functions and services of the Institute continue, and AIBC staff are available by email and phone. As per Provincial Health Officer orders and WorkSafeBC guidelines, the AIBC will post its customized Safety Plan when it is finalized and prior to reopening the physical office.
AIBC Courses Scheduled for June Cancelled
All courses which were set to take place in June have been cancelled. While we cannot host the courses online given their interactive nature, the Institute is currently exploring modified and/or alternative arrangements that will allow for courses to be delivered in-person while ensuring the health and safety of all participants. Course related questions can be sent to professionaldevelopment@aibc.ca.
Oral Reviews Hosted Virtually
The June Oral Reviews will be hosted virtually using a web-based platform, starting June 17. Additional information, such as schedules and online access details, will be emailed directly to candidates. In-person Oral Reviews will resume only when it is safe and feasible to do so, and in accordance with orders of the Provincial Health Officer and WorkSafeBC.
AIBC Response to COVID-19 Webpage
Registrants are encouraged to continue visiting the AIBC Response to COVID-19 webpage for the most up-to-date information regarding impacts on the Institute and the architectural profession. The page includes a dedicated practice-related section which outlines important information about Field Review, professional obligations, digital seals, and more. In addition, registrants can email practiceadvice@aibc.ca with any practice-related questions.
The AIBC will continue to update the webpage with information as soon as it is available.
