Post-Disaster Building Assessment Training Workshop

AIBC registrants, architectural students and others with building construction expertise who are interested in participating in Post-Disaster Building Assessment (PDBA) are required to take training that aligns with the provincial and international protocols and standards. PDBA training is a one-day workshop offered by the AIBC as part of its professional development activities.

Attendees will have the opportunity to hear from experts in the field about case studies and learn from their relevant experience. A Lower Mainland context will be applied when discussing building types and common forms of construction. An overview of the types of assessments (Rapid versus Detailed versus Engineering Evaluation, ATC 20/45) will provided as well as a review the ATC 20 field guide, and specific building types found in British Columbia. During this workshop, tools will be provided for volunteers to perform assessments of structures in the aftermath of a disaster, as volunteers for local jurisdictions.
