PGA Transition: Reserved Practice Update

Over the past several months, the provincial government has undertaken a consultation process on the reserved practice of the profession of architecture. “Reserved practice” under the PGA is the scope of practice reserved for registrants of a profession. As a reminder, it is the provincial government that sets reserved practice, unlike bylaws. Read more.

New Professional Practice Resource: Letters of Assurance

A new webpage on Letters of Assurance (Schedules A, B, C-A and C-B) is now available on the AIBC website. The webpage provides an overview of this important requirement for all Part 3 and some Part 9 buildings in the BC Building Code and Vancouver Building By-law. Read more.

2022 Annual Firm Information Update, Registrant Information Update

The 2022 Firm Information Update concluded on Oct. 31. More than 10% of firms still need to complete this regulatory requirement. In preparation for the 2023 Annual Renewal Cycle, the AIBC is also asking registrants to update their individual profile information. Read more.

2023 Certified Professional and Advanced Code Knowledge Courses

Registration for the 2023 Certified Professional (CP) Course and the Advanced Code Knowledge (ACK) Course closes on December 16. The courses will be based on the 2018 BC Building Code and the 2019 Vancouver Building By-law. Read more.
