Bill 49–2018: the Professional Governance Act
On October 22, the Honourable George Heyman, Minister of Environment and Climate Change Strategy, introduced Bill 49–2018: the Professional Governance Act (PGA) for first reading. The PGA is new legislation that would change the way certain professions are regulated. On introduction, Minister Heyman stated “This legislation is about making sure we live up to our responsibilities to British Columbians in protecting our natural heritage for our kids and grandkids…” Read more.

Redesigned Courses Launched for Intern Architects AIBC and Broadly Experienced Applicants
In 2017, the AIBC began an extensive review of the courses offered through the Internship in Architecture Program. Based on the findings, we are excited to launch a refreshed program starting next year, inclusive of a transitionary period designed for those who are mid-stream in their course obligations. Proposed Suite of Council and Institute Governance Bylaws Update
With the consultation period coming to an end for the proposed suite of Council and Institute Governance Bylaws, registrants are reminded that they have until November 2 to submit feedback. Pending AIBC Council review and approval, the member vote is anticipated to commence on November 19, 2018. Read more.

Register for the 2019 Certified Professional Course
Registration for the 2019 Certified Professional (CP) Course is filling up – limited seating is available. The course will be based on the 2018 BC Building Code, and consist of 12 full-day sessions on Wednesdays from January 9, 2019 to April 10, 2019. Register and Read more. |

The 2018 Annual Firm Information Update began on October 1 and concluded on October 31. A reminder was sent to Firm Administrators regarding the deadline, as well as other pertinent information about how-to update profiles.
