An honorary membership with the AIBC recognizes individuals who have made an especially noteworthy contribution to the profession of architecture in British Columbia. This award is sparingly bestowed and AIBC members vote to confer the status of Honorary Member of the AIBC to nominated individuals at the Institute’s annual meeting. Honorary Members are eligible to vote in council elections and bylaw amendments.
Award eligibility is open to non-architects and consideration is given to those individuals whose contributions are seen to have significantly advanced the development and standing of the profession. Areas of consideration may include innovation, creativity, education, research, publication and public service. Contributions by way of design excellence or service to the profession must be exceptional and sustained.
Eligible candidates must be nominated by a minimum of five (5) Architects AIBC or associates in good standing. All submissions received will be reviewed by the AIBC Registrar and recommendations will be forwarded to AIBC Council for its consideration and nomination at the AIBC Annual Meeting.
