The AIBC Honorary Membership, established under the Architects Act, recognizes non-architects who have made an especially noteworthy contribution to the profession of architecture in British Columbia. The conferring of this singular honour is determined through a nomination process and a vote by AIBC members at the Institute’s annual meeting. Honorary Members are eligible to vote in council elections and bylaw amendments.
While non-architects who become honorary members are conferred with rights of voting, no practice rights are bestowed.
