Honorary Registrants (Legacy) – Formerly “Honorary Members”

Under the Professional Governance Act (PGA), the category of Honorary Registrant (Legacy) is established solely for continued acknowledgment of the registration of AIBC honorary members who were so registered prior to the transition to the PGA on February 10, 2023. As per AIBC Bylaw 4.24, no admissions to the Honorary Registrant (Legacy) category are permitted by the AIBC under the PGA.

Under the now repealed Architects Act, the AIBC used to bestow “Honorary Membership”, which recognized non-architects who made exceptional contributions to the architectural profession in British Columbia. While non-architects who became honorary members were conferred with rights of voting, no practice rights were granted.
