professional conduct complaints regarding the use of the Architect’s Seal.

2025 Oral Exam Schedule Now Available

The 2025 Oral Exam Schedule is now available for Intern Architects AIBC and Broadly Experienced Applicant candidates on the AIBC website. The Oral
Exams will be delivered both virtually (Winter/Fall) and in-person (Spring).
Candidates are encouraged to review the Oral Exam Candidate Guidebook.

Zero Carbon Step Code Update

Revision 5, related to the Zero Carbon Step Code, has been published.

Effective March 10, 2025, new buildings must meet at least EL-1 of the Zero
Carbon Step Code. This means that applicable buildings will be required to measure and disclose operational greenhouse gas emissions.

AIBC Happenings

  • The deadline for Annual Renewal Fees was February 1. If still unpaid, your registration is no longer in Good Standing, and your Fee has increased by 25 percent.
  • The on-demand version of the AIBC's 2024 BC Building Code Update Course will be available next month.
  • Reminder that a new Practice Guideline: Use of the Architect’s Seal (published December 2024) is available.
  • The AIBC’s CP Manager, Anja Slusarzick-Seibt Architect AIBC CP, has been appointed to the National Model Code Committee on Fire and Life Safety.
