Proposed New Professional Standards Consultation

Two new Professional Standards regarding Competency and Field Review
Services are being proposed. The amendments have received approval in
principle from the AIBC Board. An overview of the proposed Professional
Standards can be found on the website, and a consultation session is taking place on November 12.

2025 Fall PD Series Registration Now Open

The AIBC’s Fall PD Series is back! Starting October 22, the online series will explore a range of architectural topics, including standardized designs and
components, the shade impacts of architectural projects (shadow studies), and the role of Indigenous values in design process. Read more.

Regulatory Review | Understanding the Use of the Architect’s Seal (Part 1)

This Regulatory Review examines key concepts outlined in Practice Guideline: Use of the Architect’s Seal – specifically, reinforcing the types of documents that must be sealed and providing clarity on Direct Supervision requirements.

Registrant Information on the AIBC Register

Under the PGA, the AIBC is required to maintain an online, publicly accessible register of Individual Registrants, Firms, and Former Registrants. Registrants are responsible for supplying the information on the register and notifying the AIBC of any changes. Read more.

AIBC Happenings

  • The AIBC has issued an advisory on clearance of buildings from electrical infrastructure.
  • The 2025 Firm Update concluded on September 30, with nearly all Firms submitting their update by the deadline. Only two percent of Firms still need to complete this regulatory requirement.
  • The AIBC has launched a new Classifieds website.
  • Registration is now open for the 2026 Certified Professional (CP) and Advanced Code Knowledge Courses.
