2020 Annual Renewal of Registration
During the week of November 18, 2019, AIBC registrants were sent invoices for the 2020 Annual Renewal of Registration. AIBC Council has approved a nominal one percent increase in annual renewal fees for AIBC architects, associates, firms, and temporary licensees. The deadline for annual renewal of registration is February 1, 2020. Read more.

New Discipline Notice & Illegal Practice Notice Announcement
Please be advised that the AIBC has retitled “GreenSheet” to “Discipline Notice”. The content and purpose of the Notice stays the same – to share recent findings and admissions of unprofessional conduct by AIBC registrants. In addition, an “Illegal Practice Notice” is being introduced. Read more.

Regulatory Review | Don't Let Your Seal Enable Illegal Practice
Recently, the AIBC has received increased correspondence regarding attempts to circumvent the requirements of the Architects Act, whereby designers or unregistered persons attempt to legitimize their illegal practice of architecture by requesting architects to seal their work. This Regulatory Review will provide an actual example of this type of request and illustrate the appropriate response and course of action to take if approached with a similar proposal. Read more. |

Report Makes Recommendations for Regulatory Framework for Health Profession in B.C.
In November 2019, the Steering Committee on Modernization of Health Professional Regulation – a cross-party government committee – published a report titled “Modernizing the provincial health profession regulatory framework: A paper for consultation”. Five “modernization proposals” for the regulation of health professions in B.C. were recommended. Read more. |

Fast Fact: In 1980, 1,135 registrants were on the AIBC Register. 811 of them were architects, and 165 “Architects-in-Training”. |
