AIBC 2021 Annual Renewal of Registration
During the week of November 23, 2020, AIBC registrants were sent invoices for the 2021 Annual Renewal of Registration. AIBC Council has approved that annual renewal fees remain the same as 2019 for AIBC registrants and affiliates, particularly given the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. The deadline for annual renewal of registration is February 1, 2021. Read more.
AIBC Council Rules 4: Council Elections – Notification Period
On November 10, 2020, AIBC Council approved, in principle, Council Rules 4: Council Elections. Registrants are encouraged to submit feedback during the Notification Period, which runs until January 2, 2021. Read more.
AIBC AIBC Transitions Ministries, Now Under Ministry of Attorney General
As of November 26, 2020, the AIBC is officially part of the Ministry of Attorney General. This was announced on December 1 in a letter from the Office of the Superintendent of Professional Governance. It is important to note this does not involve any regulatory or operational changes, and has no effect on registrants of the AIBC. Read more.
AIBC Last Chance to Register for the CP and ACK Courses
Registration for the 2021 Certified Professional Course and Advanced Code Knowledge Course closes on December 15, 2020. The courses will be based on the 2018 BC Building Code and the 2019 Vancouver Building Bylaw. Anyone may take the CP Course, although only architects and engineers may practice as CPs. Read more.
AIBC Join the AIBC Conference PD Committee
The AIBC is seeking creative and ambitious individuals to participate on the Conference Professional Development (PD) Committee. This volunteer position plays a significant role in the planning of the educational content for AIBC Confab and Conference. It is a great opportunity for registrants who are actively involved in the architectural community and engaged with the latest happenings in the profession. Read more.

  • Given the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the 2021 course schedule is not being released until the AIBC is able to safely offer sessions according to provincial health regulations. Further information can be found on the AIBC website.

  • Municipal Advisory Design Panels: City of Nanaimo, City of New Westminster, District of Oak Bay, City of Parksville, City of Pitt Meadows, District of Squamish (experience in designing for climate change required), City of Surrey, Municipality of Whistler.
