2021 Annual Renewal of Registration

The AIBC regulates the profession of architecture through a responsive regulatory framework in the public interest. Renewal fees support the ongoing initiatives and programs that allow the AIBC to uphold high standards of governance and operations representative of institutional excellence.

Invoice Payment

During the week of November 23, 2020, invoices for the 2021 Annual Renewal of Registration were sent to registered architects, intern architects, architectural technologists, firms and temporary licensees by email. If you did not receive your renewal invoice, please check your spam or junk folders.

In accordance with the Architects Act, the deadline for Annual Renewal of Registration is February 1, 2021.

While a variety of payment options are available, it is highly encouraged payments are submitted online by logging into the corresponding AIBC account. When logging in to make your payment, please keep in mind that individual login IDs differ from firm login IDs.

Bulletin 1: 2021 Fees Fines and Charges

AIBC Council has approved a freeze on annual renewal fees for AIBC registrants and affiliates, keeping them the same as 2019. This was done particularly given the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The annual fees for AIBC registrants incurs a 25 percent increase if not paid in full on or before the deadline.

Bulletin 3: Waiver of Annual Renewal Fee

Several updates were made to Bulletin 3: Waiver of Annual Renewal Fee. Waiver eligibility has been expanded to include the initial annual fee for Intern Architects AIBC who have completed their Internship in Architecture Program (IAP) requirements and are now applying for registration as architects in B.C. The amendments also extended eligibility to annual firm fees for architects who are the sole owners of a corporation that holds a Certificate of Practice. Furthermore, the bulletin was updated to remove the requirement for a pro-rated waiver, decreasing administrative steps for registrants.

January 15, 2021: Bulletin 3: Waiver of Annual Renewal Fee application deadline
February 1, 2021: Payment deadline for annual fees
