UBC – Developments in Robotic Fabrication of Wood, ICD Stuttgart

September 14, 2017 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

University of British Columbia – Developments in Robotic Fabrication of Wood, Institute for Computational Design at the University of Stuttgart

While many industries have made leaps and bounds in adopting highly flexible and fully automated fabrication workflows using robotics, the construction and design industry are only just starting to open the door to these technologies. Recent developments in robotics combined with more accessible design-to-fabrication tools can now offer architects, designers and fabricators unprecedented access to a new design paradigm. This lecture will look at some of the most innovative projects in wood fabrication and construction, created by the Institute for Computational Design at the University of Stuttgart.

After the lecture, there will be an opportunity to tour the installation created by the workshop held by ICD in collaboration with the Centre of Advanced Wood Processing and the School of Architecture & Landscape Architecture at UBC.
