Architectural technologists are recognized by the AIBC as associates and are permitted exclusively to use the designation of “Architectural Technologist AIBC.”
Architectural technologists play a vital role in turning the design ideas of architects into practical, workable buildings. They help research and prepare architectural drawings using special drafting software. They may also research building codes, test building materials for suitability, calculate cost estimates, prepare building models based on architects’ designs, and oversee construction projects by monitoring and inspecting the work of builders.
As associates of the AIBC, architectural technologists are required to comply with the Architects Act, AIBC Bylaws and the AIBC’s Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct. To review the specific rights and responsibilities for associates, see Registration Types: Associates.
This section provides key information and resources for architectural technologists already registered with the AIBC. It also provides information and forms for becoming an Architectural Technologist AIBC.
