The AIBC’s governing legislation has changed, and the Institute is now operating under authority of the Professional Governance Act. Some AIBC documents, webpages, information, and processes on the website may not yet reflect transition to the new legislation.

Architectural Technologists

Architectural technologists are are permitted exclusively to use the designation of “Architectural Technologist AIBC.”

Architectural technologists play a vital role in turning the design ideas of architects into practical, workable buildings. They help research and prepare architectural drawings using special drafting software. They may also research building codes, test building materials for suitability, calculate cost estimates, prepare building models based on architects’ designs, and oversee construction projects by monitoring and inspecting the work of builders.

Architectural technologists are required to comply with the Professional Governance Act, AIBC Bylaws, and the AIBC’s Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct.

This section provides key information and resources for architectural technologists already registered with the AIBC. It also provides information and forms for becoming an Architectural Technologist AIBC.
