2017 Certified Professional (CP) Course

January 11, 2017 @ 8:30 am - 5:00 pm

The 2017 Certified Professional (CP) Course is being offered jointly by the Architectural Institute of B.C. (AIBC) and the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of B.C. (APEGBC).

The CP course, including successful completion of the exams, is required for architects and engineers to become Certified Professionals under the CP Program. This is an alternative to the conventional building permit and inspection process utilized by the City of Vancouver and the City of Surrey, as well as some other municipalities. The CP course will consist of twelve (12) full-day seminars which are scheduled Wednesdays starting January 11, 2017 and two (2) 8-hour exams, which are scheduled on April 26th and May 3rd, 2017. Those interested in becoming CPs are required to attend the sessions, complete two projects and pass all exams.

The CP course will be offered live at the AIBC offices in downtown Vancouver, and remotely via WebEx. Although most of the course may be taken remotely, attendance in Vancouver is required for two site visits and two days of exams.

These courses are intended for architects and engineers and others with a strong knowledge of Canadian building codes and experience in the building construction industry. Although the course is open to all, only architects and engineers can become CPs.

In addition, two optional half-day exam preparation tutorials will be included.

Dates: 12-week course runs Wednesdays starting January 11, 2017, plus two 8-hour exams, which are scheduled on April 26th and May 3rd, 2017.
