AIBC Vancouver Island Chapter – Transformation of BC’s Building Regulatory System
The Executive Director of the BC Building and Safety Standards Branch, Andrew Pape-Salmon will provide a comprehensive overview of current topics facing building standards in the province and how those relate to the many jurisdictional levels of regulatory oversight. Andrew will present a detailed overview of the national building code development system, current BC regulatory structure, roles of all five levels of government, framework for developing standards for alterations to existing buildings, building official qualifications, professional governance, and an overview of the Regulatory Cooperation Table (RCT) agreement for harmonization of codes and implications for BC.
