BCIT – Associate Certificate in Construction of Mass Timber Structures

The Associate Certificate in Construction of Mass Timber Structures (CMTS) is designed to provide students with (i) technical knowledge in mass timber construction and construction management of mass timber projects with an emphasis on the installation phase; (ii) practical skills in on-site installation of mass timber structures; and (iii) problem-solving, creativity and teamwork skills. This program has been developed for experienced Carpenters, Ironworkers and Installers with an interest in expanding their expertise to mass timber.

This certificate program includes five courses:

TMBR 1020 Construction Planning and Rigging for Mass Timber Structures
TMBR 1030 Installation of Mass Timber Structures
TMBR 1040 Installation of Building Enclosures for Mass Timber Buildings
TMBR 1050 Installation of Interior Components and Services for Mass Timber Buildings
TMBR 1060 Practicum Construction of Mass Timber Buildings
