This course is the executive summary of the Building Envelope Education Program (BEEP) modules and satisfies the recommendations of AIBC Bulletin 68: Building Envelope (PDF). It is relevant for a principal of an architectural firm, an intern architect, architectural technologist, building official, someone who retains Building Envelope consultants as well as someone who will benefit from a clear understanding and awareness of the field.
At this course, you will review:
Roles and responsibilities among all industry players; Letters of Assurance; clarification of Enhanced Building Envelope Services and roles; coastal climatic conditions – control of precipitation, vapor diffusion, wood-rot conditions; wall performance – moisture, heat and air transfer, vapor barriers, cladding, insulation, interior environment, maintenance and repair, the envelope consultant’s role; design, detail and assemblies – integration of components, the calculation of costs of envelope construction; field services – responsibilities, testing, site inspection, reports; quality assurance – project management, liability, risk
