$5Nick Bray Architecture – Rethinking Residential Design to Reduce Wildfire Risk
As wildfires increasingly threaten communities across Canada, there is a growing need to reconsider how homes are designed, constructed, and retrofitted to reduce wildfire risk. This seminar will explore the science behind structural ignition, common vulnerabilities in residential construction, and emerging research informing wildfire-resilient building practices. Drawing on Canadian research, real-world case studies, and post-disaster studies, participants will gain an understanding of practical design and construction solutions for reducing wildfire risk. The session will also examine the evolving policy and building code landscape and its implications for residential design.
