Organization Culture Initiatives (OCI) – Beyond the Orange Shirt
In recognition of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, this session features Bryan Hansen, a certified Cultural Awareness Trainer with the Canadian Council for Indigenous Business (CCIB), delivered through their Partnership Accreditation in Indigenous Relations (PAIR) program.
In this session, Bryan will provide background on September 30, including Survivor-led legal action, the settlement process, the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, Orange Shirt Day, and the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. Topics will include:
– The significance of colours and actions, and what reconciliation asks of us between commemorative events
– Present-day systemic realities, organizational and professional responsibility, and what this means for architecture as a profession that shapes land, place, and community
– Where we’re currently at with our Roadmap to Healing (aka 94 Calls to Action)
– Real stories of Indigenous leadership, cultural revitalization, environmental recovery, and organizations moving beyond compliance into meaningful action
– What you can do today as a community member, organization member, and family member
