Peikko – Advanced Mass Timber Design with Peikko Hybrid Beams
This course defines mass timber slim-floor structures with the advantages of incorporating these assemblies in building design. The program will examine the emerging industry standards and performance attributes for slim floors, enabling the professional to select the best system for specific design criteria.
Architects, Engineers and Building Owners will appreciate the difference between various structural systems for mass timber related to the following factors:
- Deck Selection: Solid wood decks versus composite concrete/wood deck assemblies
- Optimum grid size: Selecting grid spacing for building type, i.e. open office versus affordable housing units
- New Architectural/Engineering considerations: Lessons learned from European and Australian experience in mass timber design
- Fire design considerations: Based on recent international and ULC fire codes
