RAIC – RAIC National Day for Truth and Reconciliation – 2023 Commemoration Events
On the ongoing the path to Reconciliation, the RAIC will commemorate the 2023 National Day for Truth and Reconciliation through a two-part webinar series during the week of September 25-29, 2023.
These open access webinar sessions are created in partnership with the RAIC’s Indigenous education provider NVision.
Sessions are free and pre-registration required. Please feel free to share among your colleagues and other networks.

The RAIC is grateful for and honours the generosity of the members of the RAIC Truth and Reconciliation Task Force and Indigenous Task Force. The RAIC is committed to continued action along this journey together.
Sept 26 – Part 1 History and Context
Each year, September 30 marks the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
The day honours the children who never returned home and Survivors of residential schools, as well as their families and communities. Public commemoration of the tragic and painful history and ongoing impacts of residential schools is a vital component of the reconciliation process. This is an Indigenous-led session that will explore important historical facts leading to the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
Part Two- Reconciliation and Design
Each year, September 30 marks the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
Architecture can contribute positively to societal change. Taking an Indigenous perspective into account provides an opportunity to embed reconciliation in design. This is an Indigenous-led session that will explore how Indigenous values can influence design and the creation of architecture that is more sensitive to Indigenous peoples.
