This session looks back on how a rainscreen wall, as we know it today, came to be. The presentation will explore how wall designs have evolved in the face of construction and material technology changes, research findings, and an ever-increasing demand for more durable and energy efficient buildings. Attendees will learn how various rain control approaches differ, how the industry’s perception of various rain control approaches has changed, what research findings changed the industry’s understanding of a rainscreen wall, and what building code changes inform today’s rainscreen wall approach.
