RDH Building Science Inc. – Achieving Energy Efficiency in Today’s Building Envelope

This workshop includes 4 topics key to designing durable, energy efficient buildings: (1) the basics of building enclosure design (2) control of heat, air, and moisture in high performance walls (3) changing codes and standards for thermal control and (4) high performance roofs. Drawing on research and field experience, the discussion will provide a solid grounding in the basic principles of building science — and will also cover current issues, including thermal bridging, cladding attachment over exterior insulation, and temperature-dependent R-values.
