Township of Langley – Builder Forum Series: Part 3 Air Leakage and Step Code Compliance
Jack Cui and his colleagues at JRS Engineering will present on the changes in building envelope design and construction strategies introduced by the implementation of the Energy Step Code for Part 3 buildings. The presentation will emphasize the impact of airtightness on compliance with the Energy Step Code during the design and occupancy stages. The session will cover key considerations and strategies for managing air leakage at the design, mid-construction, and occupancy stages to ensure compliance with Step Code requirements. Additionally, it will include a review of tested airtightness results for various Part 3 buildings, mitigation measures to improve airtightness test results, common pitfalls, and examples of best practices.
The full length of the event will be 2 hours including Q&A and a 15-minute update from Township of Langley staff on Part 3 Overheating Protection and compliance.
