Township of Langley – Builder Forum Series: Zero Carbon Step Code 201

The Township of Langley will be hosting an on-line builder forum to share information related to the implementation of the Zero Carbon Step Code in Part 9 and the overheating requirements as per BC Building Code 2024.

Tom Giltenan will present on implementing the Zero Carbon Step Code and implications for buildings, the importance of F280 calculations, and how they save on installation and operational costs with a look at the new cooling requirements. The presentation explores what typical mechanical systems will look like going forward and consider when dual-fuel and/or hybrid systems are truly beneficial.

Todd Backus will present on the requirements of heat loss & heat gain calculations for Part 9 buildings, which must conform with the CSA F280 standard. The presentation will highlight some of the common errors found in the data entry and provide useful tips for reviewing the calculation results, including the use of a heat gain calculation to determine the cooling requirements for the new 26°C refuge room.

In addition, there will be 30 minutes for Township updates. The full length of the webinar is 2 hours and will include time for Q&A.
