Students will learn to recognize and distinguish various textiles used in Interior spaces. Draperies, fabric shades and upholstery fabrics will be analyzed, compared and assessed. Students will learn to read and evaluate various specifications of textiles and the impact these variables may have on an interior project. The class will examine the delicate balance between aesthetics, functionality and economics required for any textile project. Students will study in detail weaving methods and fabrication of textiles so that a link can be made between the specified and the finished product. Vocabulary associated with textiles will be thoroughly discussed and interpreted preparing the student to make informed choices when in professional practice.
