ZEIC – Decarb Lunch: Embodied Carbon Savings in Part 3 & Part 9 Buildings
What does it take to move from embodied carbon targets to meaningful reductions in practice? This Decarb Lunch will explore two projects recognized in the 2026 CLF BC Embodied Carbon Awards: UBC’s Anthropology and Sociology Building, winner in the Large Buildings category, and Maverick, winner in the Small Buildings category. Speakers from Perkins&Will and CarbonWise will share the strategies and decision making behind these projects, from UBC’s retention first approach, which preserved 77% of the eligible existing structure and envelope, to Maverick’s use of reclaimed materials, early carbon targets, and whole building LCA.
