Conference and PD Day

The Architectural Institute of British Columbia hosts two biennial professional development events: AIBC Conference and AIBC PD Day.

AIBC Conference

The AIBC Conference brings together architects, intern architects, architectural technologists, builders, engineers, interior designers, faculty, students and other members of the design community to learn about new industry trends, technological advances and best practices. This gathering of architects, the largest of its kind in British Columbia, is also a chance to network, socialize and celebrate the innovations of practitioners and theorists. The conference runs over three days and includes a keynote presentation, plenary sessions, seminars, workshops, panel discussions and an industry exhibitor show.

AIBC PD Day

AIBC PD Day is the AIBC’s online, one day professional development event, which provides learning opportunities for architectural professionals in a streamlined format. Taking place over a single day, the event focuses on continuing education, efficiency, and convenience. Attendees can join virtually from across the province, country, and world to learn about topics that are impacting and influencing today’s professional practice.

In 2022, the AIBC retired Confab and rebranded the event to PD Day to be more representative of the professional development-focused nature of the event. PD Day takes places virtually on odd-numbered years, with AIBC Conference coinciding with the CES deadline on even-numbered years, in-person.
