This 3 hour class is an introduction of asbestos within the workplace. This course is designed to provide asbestos awareness to contractors, maintenance staff and managers that encounter asbestos containing materials (ACM) during typical work related duties.

This course will help participants understand how to estimate the cost of house construction with more accuracy. The format is highly intuitive and does not require participants to have a great deal of technical knowledge about construction and building methods. The divisions of work discussed will be easily understood at a functional level. The course includes using a Quantities Measurement Template, Pricing Template, Costing Summary, and Trade Breakdown.

Saturdays, from January 14 to January 21, 2017

Learn about building techniques and the materials used in the construction of wood-frame homes in British Columbia. Construction topics include: footings and foundations, framing, the envelope system, mechanical systems, and interior finishes. The course also covers basic information on permits, zoning, inspections, codes, and important documents in the construction and approval process.

The course will offer you a fundamental understanding of the elements of the passive house design. Become more cost effective and energy efficient with increased occupant comfort and reduced mechanical systems.

Mondays from January 9 to January 16, 2017

This course is an introduction to indoor toxic mold spores and lead containing materials within buildings. The course is designed to provide awareness of mold and lead containing materials to contractors, maintenance staff and managers. Upon completion individuals will be able to take the appropriate actions in addressing the issues.

Tuesdays from January 3 to March 6, 2017

This course builds on the skills learned in PROP 1085 Estimating Construction Costs. It will give participants a solid preliminary foundation in the concepts, tools and techniques of estimating construction costs as being part of the overall project cost control.

A practical introduction to the application and review process for property developments in Vancouver and adjacent municipalities.
