Construction Specifications Canada Vancouver Chapter – Not in Kansas Anymore: Designing Low-Slope Roofs for Wind Uplift Resistance
In September 2018 the BC Government released the latest edition of the British Columbia Building Code. New to the Code are detailed requirements for the design and construction of wind-resistant low-slope roofs. This presentation explores the reasons behind the changes, examines the differences between the BCBC requirements and FM Global standards, and reviews the options available to the Design Authority, for calculating wind-inducing roof loads and designing roof systems that will stay where they’re built.
