Digital Transformation in the Housing Construction Sector
February 29 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm
The Ministry of Housing’s Digital Delivery team is working with partners from across the housing construction sector to improve the permitting experience for new housing and encourage the use of tools and practices that will position British Columbia as a leader in digital permitting and construction. The Ministry will speak to the work underway on developing a new digital building permit tool, making the BC Building Code machine-readable, and developing a set of standardized housing designs. In combination, these actions will enable more detailed designs earlier in the construction process and more automated permit reviews, as well as remove barriers to off-site construction. Through the session, architects will have an opportunity to share and discuss what a successful transition to digital processes looks like and how the Ministry can best support existing best practices.
Presenter: Zachary May, Executive Director, Housing Innovations, Ministry of Housing
