Streamlined CES Compliance by Reciprocity Introduced for Out-of-Province Registrants

November 4, 2015

For those who are eligible to report their Continuing Education System using the Out-of-Province Architects – Reciprocity Option, you no longer have to wait until you are compliant in your home jurisdiction to file your declaration.

The revised Declaration of Out-of-Province CES Compliance available on your member account page now states you intend to be and are agreeing to be compliant in your home jurisdiction by June 30, 2016. This change allows members to report their compliance to us at any point during the AIBC’s CES reporting period.

Further, you no longer are required to submit by e-mail a transcript showing your CES compliance. At the end of the AIBC’s reporting period as long as you have submitted the declaration, we will contact your home jurisdiction for confirmation of your compliance.

Please complete your required LUs and submit your Declaration of Out-of-Province CES Compliance by the June 30, 2016 deadline.

The Declaration of Out-of-Province CES Compliance form can be accessed by logging into your member account and clicking on “My Courses”. The declaration form appears on the menu on the left side of the page.

As a reminder, AIBC-registered architects and architectural technologists are now more than one year into their mandatory Continuing Education System (CES). The two-year CES reporting period runs Monday, June 30, 2014 to Monday, June 30, 2016. This means participants have just over seven months to complete their required learning units (LUs) for the two-year period.

The primary objective of CES is to maintain standards of professional development for all CES participants. The AIBC is committed to the success of CES participants in completing their educational requirements, through provision of regular course offerings; the AIBC Annual Conference; the Registered Education Providers Program; and access to other available learning activities.

Please be aware that Bulletin 80 and 81 will soon be revised to reflect this change, which has now taken effect.

An FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) has been posted on the AIBC website to address commonly-asked questions.

Should you have any additional questions or require assistance, please contact Chloe Bouskill, professional development coordinator at cbouskill@aibc.ca.
