Are you an Out-of-Province Architect?
If you are an out-of-province architect, with a home jurisdiction in Canada other than the AIBC, you may be eligible to file an out of province declaration. For more information please refer to Bulletin 81: Mandatory Continuing Education System Reciprocity for Architects Resident and Registered Outside BC.
Declaration Instructions:

- Click “My Courses” near the top right-hand side.
- Click “Declaration of Out-of-Province CES Compliance for Architect AIBCs” on the left-hand side.
- Fill in the form (making sure to select your home jurisdiction) and click “submit”.
Note: CES reciprocity is only available to architects registered in Canada and not for any other countries as in compliance with Bulletin 81.
Three Ways to Earn LUs for Your CES Requirements
- Attend AIBC Recognized Educational Provider (REP) Events (LUs reported by AIBC)
The AIBC REP program provides opportunities for members to obtain LUs that are pre-approved by the AIBC. Please visit the AIBC REP Calendar for a list of upcoming events. - Read Online Articles for Self-reported LUs
There are online learning opportunities that may be helpful to you. Please note the two ways to report reading of online articles:- One method is completing a quiz after you have read an article. A quiz with an article can be reported as core if the topic presented in the article complies with the guidelines for Core topics in Bulletin 80.
- Articles not accompanied by quizzes are only eligible to be reported as Non-Core, even if the topic is a core topic. Please see Bulletin 80 for more details. Some suggested online continuing education sources:
- Attend Other Architecturally Relevant Events (Self-reported LUs)
A member is eligible to report any learning activities as long as they feel they correspond and are in line with the rules and guidelines laid out in Bulletin 80.
Please note: All self-reported submissions are considered on an individual basis and are subject to review and approval by the AIBC’s Professional Services Department. CES participants may be asked to provide supporting documentation in order to demonstrate the validity of their self-reported learning activities.
