Investigations & Discipline Bylaws Now In Effect

August 26, 2016

The Investigations & Discipline bylaws supported by members and honorary members who participated in the AIBC’s electronic vote (June 13-July 8, 2016) have successfully passed the provincial government’s “disallowance” period and are now in effect.

The AIBC’s Bylaws document has been updated to include the new bylaws. This updated document dated August 26, 2016 is available at aibc.ca.

Architects Act – Current to August 2016

In reviewing the AIBC’s Investigations & Discipline bylaws, the Ministry of Advanced Education became aware of several errors in the online version of the Architects Act published on the BC Laws web site. These errors pertained to the exclusion of the words “or associate” in several sections of the Act, arising from amendments made to the legislation in 2012. The corrections confirm that council has statutory authority to order a disciplinary inquiry into the conduct, capability, or fitness to practice of an associate and to address costs at an inquiry.

A corrected version of the Architects Act is available through the AIBC website.

Paper copies of the official version can be ordered by contacting the Queen’s Printer.
