Annual Meeting Booklet
The 2017 AIBC Annual Meeting Booklet will be mailed to AIBC members beginning this week. For those whose preference is to review the material online, a PDF version is available.
Members’ Forum and Members’ Motions
The Annual Meeting agenda allows for a Members’ Forum. The Members’ Forum provides an opportunity for members to bring forth new ideas and perspectives in the form of advisory motions to council (“members’ motions”). Such motions must be properly constructed, concise, complete, unambiguous and in writing. While strictly advisory in nature and not binding on AIBC council, members’ motions that obtain member support at the annual meeting are given due consideration by council.
All members’ motions will be directed to the Motions Review Committee, a group of members who will review motions against the above-noted criteria, the Architects Act, AIBC bylaws and the AIBC Code of Ethics.
A copy of the Motion Form as well as Members’ Forum Protocols are found in the AIBC 2017 Annual Meeting Booklet for Annual Meeting Protocols (pages 5-6).
While it is requested that members’ motions be submitted by April 28, 2017, for review by the Motions Review Committee, additional motions may be submitted to a member of the Motions Review Committee up to 30 minutes after the Annual Meeting has been called to order. Anyone bringing forward a motion at the meeting must have a written version of the proposed motion in hand at the meeting, and be prepared to speak to it, with a seconder already identified.
In the event that time does not allow for all Members’ Motions to be heard, any motions not presented at the annual meeting will still be considered by AIBC Council.
Role Call for Motions Review Committee
Members are invited to apply, by April 24, to sit on the Motions Review Committee. For more information, please review the Role Call for the Motions Review Committee.
