It is with deep regret that the AIBC acknowledges the recent passing of Mark Benjamin (Ben) Cotter Intern Architect AIBC at the age of 38. As an intern architect and a carded Canadian Ironman and Triathlon athlete, his sudden passing has come as a shock to the architectural community in Victoria and the athletic community across Canada. His dedication and commitment was legendary and extended to everything he did. He was a talented designer who had a thorough understanding of building science, fortified by a strong social conscience. As an athlete, he was a running, swimming and cycling example of “carpe diem.”
He will be deeply missed.
There will be a celebration of Ben’s life on Saturday September 2, between 2–5 p.m. at the Fort Common, 814 Broughton Street, Victoria.
