Offered jointly by the Architectural Institute of B.C. and Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia, the 2018 Advanced Code Knowledge Course will prepare participants for the coming changes in the BC Building Code, as it has been updated to include provisions from the 2015 National Building Code, which will be the basis for the new 2018 BC Building Code.
Intended for architects, intern architects, engineers, EITs, technicians, and building officials, this course will increase your expertise and depth of knowledge in this critical area of practice.
This course will be eight full-day sessions, and consist of the code-only portions of the AIBC-Engineers and Geoscientists BC Certified Professional Course. Some people take this course in preparation for taking the full Certified Professional Course and its associated Exams. The full CP Course will be offered next in 2019.
The Advanced Code Knowledge Course is also conveniently available to anyone across the province as participants will be able to attend remotely via WebEx:
“The effort of all team members to incorporate off-site participants was greatly appreciated. Additionally, seasoned practitioners were willing to share their knowledge with nuanced code challenges. The result is a higher level of professional competence available not only to those in the Lower Mainland, but throughout the jurisdiction of the AIBC. The province wide safety of the public and the role of the architect as a professional could not be better served.”
