2018 BC Building Code – Certified Professional Update Seminar Registration Now Open

October 1, 2018

Registration for the 2018 BC Building Code – Certified Professional (CP) Update Seminar presented by the Architectural Institute of British Columbia and Engineers and Geoscientists BC, is now open for registration.

The new 2018 BC Building and Plumbing Code will be effective December 10, 2018 and will apply to building permits applied for on or after that date. The CP Seminar will focus on Parts 1, 2 and 3 of the BC Building Code, and include a session on City of Vancouver Building Bylaw upgrades currently implemented. Building and Safety Standards Branch will begin the day with an overview of the 2018 code. Participants will receive access to a BCBC 2018 List of Revisions and to the PowerPoint slides via a web link.

All CPs are required to attend either one of the two all-day sessions. Attendance, either in-person or online, is required to maintain CP status. The CP Seminar will be 7.5 hours, and eligible for continuing education credit. AIBC Registrants will earn 7.5 Core Learning Units for attending.

There will be no CP upgrade exam for this BC Building Code edition. A new Vancouver Building Bylaw is anticipated in 2019; there will be a CP Seminar specific to City of Vancouver changes to be announced at a later date.

Please note that seating is limited. Registration for all sessions will close either when full or 10 days prior to the date of the seminar. Registrants who are unable to attend in person have the option of attending the course via a Webcast link on either of the two days. Connection details will be emailed to webcast registrants, separately.

Morning Breakfast will be provided and available between 7:30–8 a.m. Two breaks and lunch will also be included.
