On November 21, 2018, AIBC registrants were sent invoices for the 2019 Annual Renewal of Registration. The mandate of the AIBC is to regulate the profession of architecture on behalf of the public through a responsive regulatory framework. Self-regulation is a privilege; membership fees support ongoing initiatives and programming that allow the AIBC to uphold high standards of governance and operations representative of institutional excellence.
The AIBC publishes several bulletins which provide useful information related to the renewal of registration and annual fees, including:
- Bulletin 1: 2019 Fees Fines and Charges (PDF)
- Bulletin 2: Reinstatement of Registration (PDF)
- Bulletin 3: Waiver or Reduction of Annual Renewal Fee (PDF) Submit application by January 15, 2019.
- Bulletin 5: Resignation of Registration (PDF)
Bulletin 1: 2019 Fees Fines and Charges
The AIBC Council has approved a nominal one per cent increase in annual renewal fees for AIBC architects, associates, firms, and temporary licensees. The fee structure for AIBC registrants incurs a 25 percent increase if not paid in full on or before the deadline.
In accordance with the Architects Act, the deadline for annual renewal of registration is February 1, 2019.
Bulletin 2: Reinstatement of Registration
Amendments have been made to Bulletin 2: Reinstatement of Registration. Sections 36 and 75 of the Architects Act are now referenced to provide authority in regard to reinstatement of registrants. Those who resign in the middle of professional conduct proceedings will remain subject to Sections 36 and 75, and not be “automatically” resigned.
The amendments also distinguished “effects of suspension” from “effects of removal” for disciplinary action to the reinstatement process. Registration may automatically be reinstated in cases of suspension, meaning, application for reinstatement and payment of reinstatement fees will not be required.
A new section – Removal for Disciplinary Action – was added to clarify effects of non-compliance or late compliance to a disciplinary order or condition to the reinstatement process.
Bulletin 3: Waiver or Reduction of Annual Renewal Fee
Bulletin 5: Resignation of Registration
There have been no or minor changes to Bulleting 3: Waiver or Reduction of Annual Renewal Fee and Bulleting 5: Resignation of Registration. Please refer to the respective bulletin if you have any questions about waiving/reduction of the annual renewal fee, or resignation.
