*October 2019 Update: It has been reported that the fraudulent email (very similar/exact wording) was sent again to architects in British Columbia. Please exercise caution – the AIBC advises you not to engage and delete the email.
It has come to the AIBC’s attention that a fraudulent email is circulating amongst the architectural community from an individual who claims to be seeking an architect to design a new house.
The email states they found the recipient’s contact details “through the internet as a reputable architect.” It also includes budget and site details. A request for the recipient’s banking and/or credit card information in order to receive a retainer payment for their pre-design/proposal services is also made.
This is a scam – if you receive this email, the AIBC advises you not engage and delete the communication.
