Call for Submissions | 2019 Fall Professional Development (PD) Series

July 10, 2019

Have you been involved in a unique architectural project? Want to share your expertise and knowledge? The AIBC invites you to submit a presentation proposal for the 2019 Fall Professional Development (PD) Series.

Established in 2017, the PD Series provides an opportunity for attendees to delve deeper into contemporary topics that affect the modern architecture profession. Past PD Series have featured sessions on energy modelling, the BC Energy Step Code, the National Building Code and the use of digital seals.

For 2019, the AIBC is looking to present case studies of architectural projects which showcase innovative materials, methods or technologies. Each session is scheduled to run 90 minutes in length and will be presented in a lunch and learn format. A few examples of topics that would be of interest for this year’s Fall PD Series include:

  • Wood-based buildings
  • Unique or progressive building envelope construction
  • The intersection of new technologies and architecture
  • Implementation of unique architectural business models

The above points are suggestions – the AIBC looks forward to receiving a broad range of innovative case studies which highlight relevant trends in the ever-changing industry.

Note: The presentation should educate the attendees about the projects/methods/technologies, not focus on the marketing or promotion of the firm(s) or architect(s) involved.

Location
AIBC Office, Suite 100–440 Cambie Street, Vancouver B.C.

Dates
Sessions will run on Wednesday afternoons in October and November; exact dates will be confirmed in early September.

Time
The sessions will run from 12:30 to 2 p.m., with a complimentary lunch served from 12 to 12:30 p.m.

Submit a Presentation Proposal (Deadline Extended)

Those who are interested in submitting a presentation proposal can do so by completing the 2019 Fall PD Series Presenter Application Form.

The extended deadline to submit is Wednesday, August 21, 2019 at 5 p.m.  Please note the original submission deadline was August 12.
