Invitation to Participate in NRC Public Review

November 6, 2019

The National Research Council of Canada has launched a Public Review that will run from October 22 to December 23, 2019. The Public Review provides an opportunity to provide feedback on proposed changes to Codes Canada Publications, including:

  • National Building Code of Canada 2015 (NBC)
  • National Fire Code of Canada 2015 (NFC)
  • National Plumbing Code of Canada 2015 (NPC)

Please Note: A final national public review will take place in January 2020, which will include changes being proposed to the National Energy Code for Buildings.

The BC Building, Plumbing and Fire Codes (BC Codes) are based substantially on the model Codes Canada Publications. Changes to the Codes Canada Publications are typically adopted into the BC Codes.

The Public Review is set to close at 1 p.m. PST on December 23, 2019. For more detailed information on the proposed technical changes and the steps required for submitting comments, please visit the NRC website.

    • Grab Bars in Bathtubs and Showers
    • Snow Loads for Roofs with Solar Panels
    • Snow Loads in High Roof Steps and on Canopies

    • Climatic Data: Wind
  • National Fire Code of Canada
    • Water-Miscible Liquids
    • Fuel Dispensing Stations
  • National Plumbing Code of Canada
    • Water-Use Efficiency
    • Water Temperature Control
    • Ingress of Soil Gases
    • Piping
    • Materials and Equipment
    • Potable Water Systems
    • Non-Potable Water in Health Care Facilities
    • Drainage Systems
