The following is an announcement from the City of Victoria
There has been a recent change to the City of Victoria’s Tree Preservation Bylaw.
On November 21, City Council adopted amendments to the Tree Preservation Bylaw aimed at protecting and enhancing the urban forest, as outlined in the City’s Urban Forest Master Plan. The bylaw amendments include adjustments to the protected tree size, fees, inspection requirements and replacement trees. Many of these changes are closely aligned with the content of similar bylaws in neighbouring communities. The new bylaw was effective as of November 22, 2019; however, permit applications received after October 24, 2019 will subject to the recent amendments. If a permit application was received prior to October 24, it will be considered based on the Tree Preservation Bylaw provisions that existed at that time.
