The Bylaw Review Committee (the “BRC”) is conducting a phased review of the approximately 115 bylaws and council rulings that make up the AIBC’s Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct (the “Code of Ethics”). The BRC, supported by AIBC Council, is now consulting on five subject areas ranging from Basic/Partial Services to Client Confidentiality. An overview of each section, including a PDF of the bylaw amendments and supporting rationales, can be found on the AIBC website.
Second Round of Consultation Planned
Based on the feedback received to date, a second round of consultation is planned to open later this spring/early summer.
Upon conclusion of the first round (open until February 28), the BRC and staff will review the feedback in its entirely, with a subsequent draft shared with registrants during a follow-up consultation period.
Of particular interest are the proposed bylaws regarding Basic/Partial Services (28.1.1), Supervision of Intern Architects (34.5 and 34.5.1) and Client Confidentiality (34.4.1). Feedback will be reviewed with the intention to clarify the language and better articulate the underlying concepts.
