As of July 1, 2020, Intern Architects AIBC officially became Continuing Education System (CES) Participants. You are now almost halfway through your first reporting period cycle, which means there is just over a year left to earn and report a total of 36 Learning Units (LUs) by the deadline of June 30, 2022.
Here are several CES updates and opportunities to help ensure you meet the requirements:
Review the Recently Updated CES Documents
Minor revisions were recently made to Bulletin 80: Mandatory Continuing Education System (CES). The Practice Guideline: Continuing Education System (CES) was also re-published (previously CES Guidelines). The updates provide further clarity and additional guidance on the classification of learning activities, Core vs. Non-core activities, and include a new section on intern architect specific activities. We encourage you to review these updates to become more familiar with the Program.
Online Learning Opportunities – AIBC Confab 2021
There are many ways and opportunities to earn LUs, and we recommend getting started early in the reporting cycle. The AIBC Events Calendar includes many learning activities available to CES Participants.
AIBC Confab 2021 is also coming up on May 10 and 11, which is the first Conference/Confab event intern architects can attend as CES Participants. This online event is a great way to earn Core LUs and satisfy CES requirements. There are more than 15 learning activities available, including seminars, an interactive workshop, and two plenaries featuring thought-provoking interdisciplinary speakers. Participants can earn:
- 7.5 Core LUs for full AIBC Confab 2021 attendance
- 2.5 Core LUs for attending the interactive workshop (Addressing Housing Inequities presented by Happy City)
- 1.25 Core LUs for attending a single session
Given the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, AIBC Confab 2021 will be offered completely virtually and at a reduced rate. The event explores topics highly relevant to today’s professional practice – we encourage you to view the full schedule, speakers, and session topics on the AIBC Confab 2021 website – registration is now open!
