The AIBC invites Architects AIBC to submit an application to serve on a municipal advisory design panel (ADP). This is a great opportunity to get involved in your community and help shape the projects and policies affecting the built environment in British Columbia. In this role, architects provide valuable insight and feedback on design, urban planning, and zoning matters. By contributing their expertise and knowledge, architects help municipalities arrive at the best decisions possible, in the public interest.
The AIBC provides architect-member nominations to 30 different ADPs in British Columbia and is looking for new volunteers to serve on these panels. Meeting schedules for each ADP are available in the Design Panel Meeting Matrix.
Serving on an ADP is an important and rewarding volunteer opportunity. To apply, please submit your CV and a completed Advisory Design Panel Application Form to email@example.com. As we move into the second half of 2021, many panels will be needing new nominations in the fall. The panels include:
|City of New Westminster||City of Langley||City of North Vancouver||City of Nanaimo|
|City of Port Moody||City of Maple Ridge||City of North Vancouver – Heritage||District of Oak Bay|
|City of Richmond||District of North Vancouver||District of Saanich|
|City of Surrey||District of West Vancouver||City of Victoria|
|City of White Rock||Municipality of Whistler|
Applications can be submitted at anytime for any ADP. Applications remain valid for two years and anyone whose two-year application period has expired is encouraged to re-apply.
New applicants are encouraged to review the following ADP documents prior to applying:
- Council Rules 7: Advisory Design Panels
- Bulletin 65: Advisory Design Panels: Standards for Procedure and Conduct
- Practice Guideline: Advisory Design Panels (ADPs)
