Work continues with the AIBC’s transition to the Professional Governance Act. A major component of this work is the development of new bylaws and an updated Code of Ethics. The AIBC is working to update the Code of Ethics to reflect PGA requirements, in addition to the amendments that were already on track under the Bylaw Review Committee process.
A Notice will be sent to registrants when the bylaw consultation period begins. As a reminder, registrants will not be voting on the bylaws, but are encouraged to participate and provide feedback.
Did you Know?
Under the Professional Governance Act, the AIBC’s bylaws must include an updated Code of Ethics that contains 12 ethical principles established by the legislation (s. 57(2)), in addition to standards specific to the profession. While the AIBC’s current Code of Ethics contains most of these principles, there are a few new requirements that will need to be added (e.g., a requirement that architects/firms clearly identify each registrant who has contributed professional work, including recommendations, reports, statements or opinions).
More information about the PGA Transition can be found on the AIBC FAQ webpage.
