PD Day: the AIBC’s Refreshed, Online Professional Development Event

August 3, 2022

Since 2019, the AIBC has hosted two biennial professional development events: Conference and Confab. The global events of the past few years have evolved Confab into more of a streamlined, online event. To be more representative of the professional development focused and virtual nature of Confab, the AIBC has rebranded the event. Moving forward, the AIBC will be holding “AIBC PD Day” which will replace Confab.

What is AIBC PD Day?

PD Day is the AIBC’s online only, one day professional development event, which provides learning opportunities for architectural professionals in a streamlined format. Taking place over a single day, the event focuses on continuing education, efficiency, and convenience. Attendees can join virtually from across the province (and world!) to learn about topics that are impacting and influencing today’s professional practice.

The first-ever AIBC PD Day will be taking place on May 10, 2023. Attendees can expect the same high-quality professional development content, in a virtual, streamlined format. The event will still be taking place on the virtual platform used for Confab.

What about AIBC Conference?

The AIBC is also delighted to announce that the multi-day Conference will returning in-person in 2024! This means that PD Day will take place virtually online on odd-numbered years, with AIBC Conference coinciding with the Continuing Education System (CES) reporting deadline on even-numbered years, and in-person.

In combination with our Fall PD Series, REP Program, and other course offerings – AIBC CES Participants have a broad range of learning opportunities available throughout the year to support their continuing education.

What’s Next?

The Call for Submissions for PD Day will be opening in early September. We encourage those who are interested in presenting at the event to submit a proposal, once the application period has opened.
If you have any questions about PD Day, please email communications@aibc.ca.
